Happy 241st birthday, America

I am so thankful to live in this great country, America. When someone asks me what is my favorite patriotic songs...there are just so many that I love. But I wanted to share these two that I was honored to sing at our local National Guard Armory. I love our soldiers so much. I really can't put into words how much I appreciate them. It has been so wonderful to actually get to know them personally...to see their faces each month when we go. To hear their prayer requests and pray daily for them. They are true heroes in my book. But more importantly, without our Lord Jesus Christ, there would be no American. God has so blessed this nation. He has shown grace and mercy and love to this nation over and over and over. God has been so good to us! 2 Chronicles 7:14 says...If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

So today, I want to say to my Lord, thank you so much for loving us enough to let us be born in American. And to our soldiers, those that never came home, and those still volunteering to go, thank you thank you thank you! If you can, listen to this wonderful song...because it's under God that we even have what we have...

Under God

Statue of Liberty

In New York Harbor stands a lady,
With a torch raised to the sky;
And all who see her know she stands for
Liberty for you and me.

I'm so proud to be called an American,
To be named with the brave and the free;
I will honor our flag and our trust in God,
And the Statue of Liberty.

On lonely Golgotha stood a cross,
With my Lord raised to the sky;

And all who kneel there live forever
As all the saved can testify.

I'm so glad to be called a Christian,
To be named with the ransomed and whole;
As the statue liberates the citizen,
So the cross liberates the soul.

Oh the cross is my Statue of Liberty,
It was there that my soul was set free;
Unashamed I'll proclaim that a rugged cross
Is my Statue of Liberty!

The Greatest Hero

How my heart swells with pride everytime I step outside
And see Old Glory waving in the wind
Then a tear comes to my eyes when I think of those who died
They are heroes of our liberty

But one day there was a stand, not an army just one Man
And it took place on a hill called Calvary
At this place His enemies fell, my Savior conquered Hell
The greatest Hero is my King of kings

The Greatest Hero didn't lead an army
He didn't fight or kill any other man
He took the cross with His head bowed low
So we don't have to go
The Greatest Hero is my King of kings

Family Camping Trip

Our family just spent a couple days in the mountains. It was such a nice place. It drizzled on us a bit the first day, but the second day was absolutely perfect. Loved the time away.

The boys loved the water!!

These pooches are so worn out lol

Favorite thing to do...eat

Silly Colt...he's such a nut. I got a picture of him with his first fish catch, but Gunner threw my phone in the creek and it's gone. On the up side, my phone still works :)

My view at 6:00 in the morning. So peaceful to sit here and listen.

Graduation Day

It's finally here...my oldest son has graduated highschool. We had a precious ceremony for Ryder and the pastor's daughter, Emily at our church.  It was really beautiful and special. I love this boy more than life itself. I have watched him grow from that tiny 4 pound infant into a 6 foot tall man. I know the cliche "where did the time go" is used all the time, but it truly seemed to just fly right by. I am so proud of my boy. He has always been fiercely independent and hard working. He will succeed at whatever he does.  God has blessed me  beyond comprehension. I can never thank Him enough for all He has done. He is so good!
Now this momma says "One down...five to go!" Lol

Singing "Farther Along"

Getting his diploma, a check from the church, and a brand new Bible

We sure love this boy

We've been trying to get in the habit of getting more exercise and explore the outdoors.  Last week we spent the entire day in the mountains. This week we hiked to a beautiful waterfall. It's in the middle of nowhere and has no name. It's past Tellico Plains right at the North Carolina/Tennessee line, in the Cherokee National Forest. It was really hard. I guess it's over a mile, but it was like a jungle...very rugged terrain. It was nearly down hill the entire way. So then up hill back to the van. We were worn out. But it was a blast. Now...what to do next week :)

We finally see it!

This picture just doesn't do justice to what it really looks like. It was so beautiful!

We were so hungry and thirsty. As energetic as Gunner is...even he was whining lol

Family Day

We got up bright and early Thursday morning and took a trip to the mountains. We all love the outdoors, so with a lot of planning, everyone was able to be off work and we spent the entire day up there. We were so tired when we got home, but it was such a fun, beautiful day. We wanted to get away and do something we all enjoy to celebrate school being out, summer vacation, and Ryder and Deseree graduating this year.

Here they all are on the edge of the waterfall above Tellico Plains

Deseree cracked me up...she just jumped right off this little ledge without even thinking twice. I used to be able to do that...back in the day

The top of the waterfall

This boy LOVES the water...even if it's cold

Here's our favorite place to camp/grill out...Spivey Cove

Huge place for the boys to ride their bikes

I sure love these girls

This is Donley's cabin...you can actually stay in it. We did years ago. No plumbing, no electricity, and an outhouse...real fun lol You can read more about it here https://www.recreation.gov/camping/donley-cabin/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=NRSO&parkId=74167

They all loved the water...but it was freezing

Scott on the rope swing ;)

Here is about a 10 foot bluff that my dare devil Daniel jumped off of into the water
